If there’s one thing I know, it’s good donuts. I have favorite donut shops in multiple cities across the U.S. and zero shame. So you know that I have to share with you loverly folks when I find a winner and Five Daughters definitely stacks up.
Bring your daughters, your friends, and your acquaintances but also bring an insulin drip because this place is legit.

There are a few changes taking place during this season of my life so I thought I’d write a post for those who might be interested. I’m starting my nurse practitioner clinicals for Vanderbilt this week that will run through the end of July. As hard as I tried, I couldn’t secure clinicals near home but I’m grateful to be closer to my family (cough cough- my nephew) in Sevierville, TN. I’ll be sad to be away from my husband and JoeJoe but thankfully we’re no strangers to driving back and forth. We can do this! After I graduate in August I’ll be looking for a job so I ask that you would pray for God’s provision in that area. I’ll also be driving a lot between Nashville, Bristol, and Sevierville so please pray for safe travels. I hope everyone has a wonderful week! I’ll be settling in to my new clinic role and drinking lots of coffee.
Hello 2019! I can’t believe I’m writing my first post of the new year. The holidays seemed to jet passed me in a blur. I think this year I’ll put up my Christmas decorations BEFORE Thanksgiving like a heathen and everyone else can just deal. Last week, Chris and I went to Ohio to see family and we spent one of our days in Cleveland. This city has A LOT to offer. Here’s what we did during our short visit… Continue reading “WELCOME TO CLEVELAND”
Even though there are far too many things to do in Chattanooga for one weekend, 3 days is a great place to start. After living there for 2 years I certainly have a short list of favorites. The best part is that I was a college student while I lived in “Chatt” so I know how to pinch pennies while I’m there. Stick with me, kid. I’ll show you where to go! If you’re looking for something to do on a rainy day in Chattanooga, or any day for that matter, the Tennessee Aquarium is the perfect solution. With all they have to offer, you’ll find yourself completely immersed within minutes. Let me show you a few of my favorite exhibits from our trip! Continue reading “TENNESSEE AQUARIUM”
After we finished our incredible meal at Columbia Restaurant, I was in desperate need of a pick-me-up. We went in search of caffeine and luckily The Blind Tiger was a short walk from the restaurant. They had almond milk (saints be praised) so I ordered a vanilla latte and sat by the window to people watch. Continue reading “THE BLIND TIGER”
We were fortunate enough to find ourselves in sunny Florida for Thanksgiving visiting family. As I’m writing this snow is falling on the ground outside in Tennessee which has me wishing I was back on the beach! While we were there we discovered yet another reason to be grateful that Tampa is just a short plane ride away. Columbia Restaurant is the oldest restaurant in the state of Florida and one of many reasons to add a detour through Ybor City to your next trip. If you happen to miss the incredible tile work on the outside of the building the sheer size of this place is remarkable taking up an entire city block. You can’t miss it! Buffalo Mountain sticks out in my mind not only for the gorgeous views but because this is the first trail Joe hiked without a leash. I was originally very anxious about the whole thing but then again I’m never not anxious so I decided to try it “just this once”. As usual I was worried for nothing and he did beautifully. The only downside is that now it has me wishing we could take him with us every time we go. Continue reading “BUFFALO MOUNTAIN HIKE”
We visited Harvest Moon Pumpkin Patch in Wears Valley last weekend with my brother and his wife. The weather was beautiful and I have to say I’ve never been to a place with the variety that Harvest Moon had to offer. I liked the “Cinderella” and “Fairy Tale” pumpkins best. No surprises there! Continue reading “HARVEST MOON PUMPKIN PATCH”
I officially became “Aunt Carly” on Wednesday and I couldn’t be happier! I won’t share too many details because it’s my sister’s birth story and not my own. I will say that he’s cuddly and likes to be held. Music to my ears! I hope y’all enjoy these snapshots I took at the hospital. I’m thrilled that my sister allowed me to be there for the birth of her son and to share these moments with you. Continue reading “MEET MY NEPHEW ARLOW”
