MUMMY DOGS

MUMMY DOGS

My mom has been making “mummy dogs” around this time of year for as long as I can remember. When I saw them online I was in disbelief. I really thought my mom made these up! As a twenty-something “grown up” I still think mummy dogs are wickedly fun. This Halloween themed dish is one of the only ones in my arsenal so you know it has to be simple… delicious and kid approved but simple nonetheless.  Continue reading “MUMMY DOGS”

DOUBLE D’S COFFEE & DESSERTS

DOUBLE D’S COFFEE & DESSERTS

Double D’s Coffee and Desserts is housed inside a double-decker bus that originally roamed the bustling streets of London. Since taking on a new life as a coffee shop this bright red bus keeps Asheville wanting more. Everyone can use a cup of tea or coffee throughout the day so why not get it with a little whimsy? HOLE DONUTS

HOLE DONUTS

Asheville has manifested itself in my mind as this southern mama who feels like she has to feed me every time I visit and this time mama made donuts. Donuts have been my favorite sinful indulgence for at least 5 years now. I have become somewhat of a connoisseur and I pride myself on knowing where the “good” donuts can be found. Asheville folks, you are ridiculously lucky to have Hole Donuts!  Continue reading “HOLE DONUTS”

BRIDE DAY FRIDAY: WEDDING MOVIES TO WATCH BEFORE TYING THE KNOT

BRIDE DAY FRIDAY: WEDDING MOVIES TO WATCH BEFORE TYING THE KNOT

Today’s Bride Day Friday post is all about my favorite wedding movies. With all the work that goes into planning a wedding, turning on a movie with a glass of wine is the perfect way to decompress. I’ve now mastered the art of propping my laptop up on the towel crate in my bathroom and watching one of these while I soak in the tub. I know there are way more than 6 but these are the wedding movies I can’t live without. Continue reading “BRIDE DAY FRIDAY: WEDDING MOVIES TO WATCH BEFORE TYING THE KNOT”

WIGGING OUT IN ASHEVILLE

WIGGING OUT IN ASHEVILLE

A few years back I saw a picture on Facebook of girls in wigs for a bachelorette party and I knew when it was my turn that I would be completely unoriginal and copy them. We “wigged out” in Asheville and had an absolute blast. I was worried initially that people would give us funny looks but so many people came up to us to say how much they loved the wigs. Lots of the girls ended up saying that they couldn’t wait for another opportunity to wear them. Continue reading “WIGGING OUT IN ASHEVILLE”

GIRLFRIENDS’ GUIDE TO CIDER FEST

GIRLFRIENDS’ GUIDE TO CIDER FEST

We had the most amazing time in Asheville for my bachelorette party! As fate would have it, Cider Fest was on the same weekend and this bride loves hard cider! Accompanied by my best girlfriends, we took Asheville and Cider Fest by storm the same way… one drink at a time. Looking back on this weekend will have me smiling for years to come. BRIDE DAY FRIDAY: THE PROPOSAL

Happy Friday everyone! This weekend I will be living my best life in Asheville, NC for my bachelorette party. We’ll be going to Cider Fest on Saturday and exploring the city. I wanted to get a little nostalgic since the wedding is only 3 weeks away and decided to relive Christopher’s proposal. Here goes! I hope you enjoy a piece of our love story. ANAKEESTA MOUNTAINTOP EXPERIENCE

ANAKEESTA MOUNTAINTOP EXPERIENCE

Gatlinburg’s newest tourist attraction, Anakeesta, is a Cherokee word meaning “the place of the balsams” according to their website. I am part Cherokee (my great-grandmother’s name was Morning Dove) but I wouldn’t dream of vouching for the language. Anakeesta is located across the street from the aquarium in case you’re wondering but it’s pretty hard to miss the huge brand new building next to Arrowmont.
