October is finally here which means Oktoberfest is almost over! Don’t worry if you can’t make it to Munich this year. Knoxville has the best place to celebrate Oktoberfest (in a CASTLE no less) and I’ve got pictures to prove it.
Schulz Bräu is an authentic German brewery located in Knoxville, Tennessee. They’re family friendly and dog friendly so right away they had a strong vote from me for our Barnes family weekend gathering. My dad and his wife are big fans of Schulz Bräu after they tried it for date night a while back. Dad showed up in a Schulz Bräu t-shirt, growler in hand, asking if we’d met the owner with whom he is now on a first name basis.

The interior of the castle looks like Gaston’s hunting lodge but with considerably less dead animals on the wall. I felt like I had stepped out of Knoxville and into my own Disney fairy tale. Schulz Bräu, you are stunning.

Outside there is a little window to order food and another place to order beer. The line for food was quite long but they take your phone number to text you when it’s ready so you don’t have to wait outside. After tasting the pork schnitzel I completely understood why so many enthusiastic people were waiting in the heat.

My nephew, Arlow, was over the moon that there were cool misters outside. We spent a decent amount of time underneath them letting him giggle. When he’d had enough of the heat we moved inside so the boys could watch football and he could have his own version of Oktoberfest getting milk drunk.
The food, drinks, and atmosphere will have you thinking you’ve been transported to Germany without ever having to get a passport.
Make sure to head to Schulz Bräu for the Oktoberfest celebration and to enter their contest for a free trip to Oktoberfest in Munich next year!
