Wow. It has been a minute since I’ve written a blog post but today feels like the perfect opportunity. I feel as though I may be stepping out of the new mom fog… just in time for the 4 month sleep regression. Ha! Jokes aside I haven’t felt particularly inspired since the pandemic started. Compound that with being pregnant, starting a new job, trying to stay healthy (physically and emotionally) and taking care of newborn- there was little time for blogging. I’m so glad to be getting back to what I love and sharing our sweet life with all of you. So here goes… first post of 2021. Our first of many adventures with Claire.

The newest restaurant in Bristol caught my eye while walking down State Street during Rhythm and Roots last weekend. Delta Blues is a BBQ restaurant that feels a little like Memphis and Nashville right here in Bristol. My husband is known as the brisket king in our family so I knew it wouldn’t be long before we ended up at Delta Blues for dinner. Let me show you around.Read more
RHYTHM & ROOTS 2019
Bristol’s Rhythm & Roots Reunion is a music and art festival held every 3rd weekend in September on the state line between Tennessee and Virginia. Since we’ve lived in Bristol for the last 7 years we’ve been quite a few times and seen incredible headliners and talented artists from all over the world. One year my sister set up an art tent to sell her pottery which gave me a unique opportunity to see the festival from the other side. This year was much more relaxed because we decided to go for one day instead of all 3.Read more
GET THE BEST VIEW OF TWO STATES FROM THIS ROOFTOP BAR
The Bristol Hotel is Bristol’s first ever boutique hotel and its also home to Lumac, Bristol’s first ever rooftop bar. That’s more excitement than our little town has seen since the Battle at Bristol was hosted at Bristol Motor Speedway back in 2016. After weeks of traveling all over East Tennessee, I finally got the perfect opportunity to sip a glass of rosé on the rooftop while watching the sun set over the mountains.Read more

5 BEST PLACES TO EAT IN BRISTOL
Since moving to the Bristol area a few years ago, I’ve compiled a list of the best places to get a bite to eat and I wanted to share them with the You, Me, and Tennessee family.
BLOOM CAFE AND LISTENING ROOM
Bloom is a new coffee shop and cafe in downtown Bristol that has been on my radar since Rhythm and Roots back in September. I popped in to this State Street newbie for a coffee a few weeks back but last night I was able to stay for trivia. The theme was “Stranger Things” and it was a huge success. Many patrons, much like the owner pictured below, dressed as his/her favorite character. The list of team names included “Barb’s Search Party” and “The AV Club”. The dinner special was called “The Upside Down” which consisted of bacon, gouda cheese, turkey, apples, and apple butter sandwiched between two Eggo waffles and served with a side of maple syrup. It was strange, of course, but also delicious. Eleven would definitely approve! I snapped a few pictures so you could have a look around the shop. Not shown are the gorgeous herringbone hardwood floors and the stained glass trim around the door frame. I’ll have to go back when the natural light is beaming through the windows.Read more

BIRTHPLACE OF COUNTRY MUSIC MUSEUM
Happy Monday everyone! I’m enjoying my day at home since the clinic is closed in observance of MLK Day. I hope you’re all staying warm and getting your Vitamin C. Our area of Tennessee has been frigidly cold this month but that doesn’t mean your only choice is to stay inside. Not that I have anything against snuggling up under a fuzzy blanket in my favorite sweatpants. That’s what we did all weekend until we decided we should take showers and rejoin humanity. We ended up at The Birthplace of Country Music Museum in downtown Bristol and learned a lot about this city’s heritage.Read more
