BLOOM CAFE AND LISTENING ROOM

BLOOM CAFE AND LISTENING ROOM

Bloom is a new coffee shop and cafe in downtown Bristol that has been on my radar since Rhythm and Roots back in September. I popped in to this State Street newbie for a coffee a few weeks back but last night I was able to stay for trivia. The theme was “Stranger Things” and it was a huge success. Many patrons, much like the owner pictured below, dressed as his/her favorite character. The list of team names included “Barb’s Search Party” and “The AV Club”. The dinner special was called “The Upside Down” which consisted of bacon, gouda cheese, turkey, apples, and apple butter sandwiched between two Eggo waffles and served with a side of maple syrup. It was strange, of course, but also delicious. Eleven would definitely approve! I snapped a few pictures so you could have a look around the shop. Not shown are the gorgeous herringbone hardwood floors and the stained glass trim around the door frame. I’ll have to go back when the natural light is beaming through the windows. BIRTHPLACE OF COUNTRY MUSIC MUSEUM

BIRTHPLACE OF COUNTRY MUSIC MUSEUM

Happy Monday everyone! I’m enjoying my day at home since the clinic is closed in observance of MLK Day. I hope you’re all staying warm and getting your Vitamin C. Our area of Tennessee has been frigidly cold this month but that doesn’t mean your only choice is to stay inside. Not that I have anything against snuggling up under a fuzzy blanket in my favorite sweatpants. That’s what we did all weekend until we decided we should take showers and rejoin humanity. We ended up at The Birthplace of Country Music Museum in downtown Bristol and learned a lot about this city’s heritage. Continue reading “BIRTHPLACE OF COUNTRY MUSIC MUSEUM”

CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATING

CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATING

This year we decided to start a new Christmas tradition with our tree. We normally have a blue and silver tree and it’s a long story but my husband thought I liked the blue tree and I thought he did. Anyway, we both wanted a red and green tree we just never communicated that because we didn’t want to hurt each other’s feelings. Relationships are weird, y’all. Fast forward a couple months and we’ve got the first Christmas tree that feels incredibly personal to the newly cemented Kibler family. Let’s have a look, shall we? RHYTHM AND ROOTS REUNION

RHYTHM AND ROOTS REUNION

Bristol’s Rhythm and Roots Reunion is a music and arts festival held on State Street in Bristol. The fun fact about State Street is that one side of the street is Virginia and the other side is Tennessee so you can straddle the double yellow lines and be in two places at once. We enjoy Rhythm and Roots for the food trucks, live bands, and art that you may not find anywhere else. Continue reading “RHYTHM AND ROOTS REUNION”

BEAR MOUNTAIN POTTERY

BEAR MOUNTAIN POTTERY

Rhythm and Roots was a different experience for  me this year because I got to see it from a vendor’s point of view. My sister, Katie, is an artist from Pigeon Forge (Coincidence??? I think NOT!!!) who specializes in throwing and carving. For those of you who don’t know, you quite literally throw a piece of clay onto a potter’s wheel. I would love to record her throwing one day just so everyone could see the magic happen. Continue reading “BEAR MOUNTAIN POTTERY”
