MEET MY NEPHEW ARLOW

MEET MY NEPHEW ARLOW

I officially became “Aunt Carly” on Wednesday and I couldn’t be happier! I won’t share too many details because it’s my sister’s birth story and not my own. I will say that he’s cuddly and likes to be held. Music to my ears! I hope y’all enjoy these snapshots I took at the hospital. I’m thrilled that my sister allowed me to be there for the birth of her son and to share these moments with you. Continue reading “MEET MY NEPHEW ARLOW”

5 WAYS TO SAVE MONEY FOR TRAVEL

5 WAYS TO SAVE MONEY FOR TRAVEL

Y’all know I love to travel. I started You, Me, and Tennessee because of my passion for travel and it has been incredibly fun to share my adventures (big and small) with all of you. Here’s the thing… the “hitch in my giddy-up” if you will… I work a full time job as a nurse. I don’t have unlimited funds or unlimited vacation days. I saw something on Facebook yesterday that made me laugh out loud. It said, “How are you guys going on trips so often? How is your time off being approved? Who is paying your bills?” I’ve had the same thought a hundred times! Since I started writing on the blog I’ve felt pressure to post about “all the fun I’m having”. I’ve felt like if I’m not posting from the Seven Wonders of the World every week then I’m somehow a fraud as travel blogger and that’s simply not true. So this week I wanted to share with you the 5 things you can do when you can’t travel as much as you’d like. You’re not a failure because your Instagram feed isn’t flashy and color coordinated. Remember that through those avenues people can pick and choose the parts of life they want you to see. Here are 5 things you can do to live your best life when larger trips seem out of the question. TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

Making resolutions is easy to do in the moment. The hard part is sticking with them long term. I think introspection is something to be applauded. I think examining what you want out of life is always a good idea. I also think that if we’re being honest with ourselves, most of us just want to be happy. Dumbledore said, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Two things come to mind when I read this quote. It’s one of my favorites so I reflect on it fairly often. Happiness can be found but you have to know what your version of happiness entails. Maybe being healthier would make you happy or maybe it’s getting more organized. You know yourself best. Secondly, turning on the light is much harder for some than others. I wish you only best with the part about light. I have good days and bad days myself. I can, however, give you some tips to help you hit those resolutions hard and get you one step closer to your happy place.  Continue reading “TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS”

WEDDING PHOTOS: THE CEREMONY

WEDDING PHOTOS: THE CEREMONY

Well I have officially put all the Christmas decorations back in the basement except the tree. That one always seems to be the hardest. I got most of my presents put away and I usually take this opportunity to reorganize everything. Anyone else? Right now my biggest task is going through our wedding photos and trying to choose my favorites to print. It’s so hard! I wanted to break the wedding photo posts up instead of doing a whole week of them. I hope that’s alright with everyone. I think I’ve looked at these a hundred times by now. Here are the ones from the ceremony. Enjoy! You can click on the photos to enlarge them. Continue reading “WEDDING PHOTOS: THE CEREMONY”

This post is wedding themed so it’s more of a “Bride Day Friday” and “Friday 5 Things” hybrid. Continue reading “FRIDAY 5: WEDDING EDITION”

WHAT JOE IS GETTING FROM SANTA PAWS

WHAT JOE IS GETTING FROM SANTA PAWS

It’s no secret that Joe is my favorite non-human. He is the short and chubby love of my life. Since we don’t have kiddos Joe Joe gets presents from Santa Paws each year. When buying a gift for someone, even your dog, you should start by making a list of their favorite things. My kid likes to eat, nap, and chew so his gifts revolve around those themes. He’s in desperate need of a hair and nail trim so that gift will be added last minute. This might sound like less of gift and more of a punishment because some dogs hate baths and Joe is no different. He is, however, hopelessly in love with the grooming ladies at Pet Smart and they love him in return so he will be over the moon. Continue reading “WHAT JOE IS GETTING FROM SANTA PAWS”

THE ONLY SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE YOU WILL EVER NEED

THE ONLY SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE YOU WILL EVER NEED

My mother-in-law gets asked to make her sugar cookies for every family function of the year. I’m not much of a cookie fan so I didn’t understand what all the fuss was about. I think I first had them on the Fourth of July. She shaped them into American flags and I got my paws on one before she made it red, white, and blue. One bite. That was it. I was done for. I’ve never had a better sugar cookie in my life and neither will you. Trust me, this is the only sugar cookie recipe you will ever need.
