It’s been a while since my last wedding posts but you can look at Part One and Part Two if you missed them. This is the final installment all about the wedding reception aka the whole reason people come to your wedding. Time to drink champagne and dance on the tables! Happy Friday and Happy Birthday to the incomparable Dolly Parton! The Patron Saint of the Smokies makes my heart sing today and every day. I hope you all have stayed warm this week. Heck, I hope everyone has held on to his/her sanity this week if the kids have been out of school for snow. If you’re a teacher then I’m happy you (hopefully) got a well-deserved extra break. I’m praying that you’re all feeling well. The flu has hit our part of Tennessee so stay safe and if you’re leaving the house bring disinfecting wipes with you. I added a photo of me at Blackbird Bakery in Bristol because I went on Monday and stocked up. I’ve been thinking about them all week when I eat one of the dozen things I brought home. I’m also wearing the softest article of clothing I own and it’s perfect for a UT game so I’ll link it below. Ok, here we go!
Hey guys! This week was busier than usual at the clinic and I am feeling it for sure. I took a loooooong bath Tuesday night with a glass of wine and I honestly could have done that every night and still might feel this tired. Flu season is upon us! Stay hydrated and full of vitamin C. Here are the 5 things on my mind this Friday. Links are embedded in the titles unless otherwise specified. As always thanks for reading and letting me share with you. Making resolutions is easy to do in the moment. The hard part is sticking with them long term. I think introspection is something to be applauded. I think examining what you want out of life is always a good idea. I also think that if we’re being honest with ourselves, most of us just want to be happy. Dumbledore said, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Two things come to mind when I read this quote. It’s one of my favorites so I reflect on it fairly often. Happiness can be found but you have to know what your version of happiness entails. Maybe being healthier would make you happy or maybe it’s getting more organized. You know yourself best. Secondly, turning on the light is much harder for some than others. I wish you only best with the part about light. I have good days and bad days myself. I can, however, give you some tips to help you hit those resolutions hard and get you one step closer to your happy place. Continue reading “TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS”
Today’s featured photo was taken at Niagara Falls in December of 2012. Niagara Falls was recently in the news because the area around the falls was covered in snow and a thick coat of ice. Have a look here. When we visited 6 years ago there was plenty of thick ice but thankfully not that amount of snow. There was a sign on the gate that said the lookout was closed to visitors but we jumped the fence. Taking the risk was completely worth it and Niagara Falls is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Chris and I are blessed to have been on countless adventures and I can’t wait for more. The temperatures in Tennessee have been dropping down into the single digits lately and I’m reminded of our trip to Niagara Falls. I’ve been chilled to the bone and my eyes have been watering but I’m blissfully happy to spend time with Chris no matter how cold it is outside. My husband at least got me a warmer coat a few years ago. Damn Yankees and their cold weather preparedness. I say if it’s not Christmas anymore then it should be spring but no one asked me.
This edition of Friday 5 Things is as random as ever but I’m back to posting links with numbers 2 through 5. Let’s start with the giveaway winner! Continue reading “FRIDAY 5 THINGS + GIVEAWAY WINNER”
Well I have officially put all the Christmas decorations back in the basement except the tree. That one always seems to be the hardest. I got most of my presents put away and I usually take this opportunity to reorganize everything. Anyone else? Right now my biggest task is going through our wedding photos and trying to choose my favorites to print. It’s so hard! I wanted to break the wedding photo posts up instead of doing a whole week of them. I hope that’s alright with everyone. I think I’ve looked at these a hundred times by now. Here are the ones from the ceremony. Enjoy! You can click on the photos to enlarge them. Continue reading “WEDDING PHOTOS: THE CEREMONY”
This week ends up providing the perfect opportunity to pause and reflect on the year. What did I accomplish? What do I want to do the same or differently next year? What are my goals for 2018?
2017 has been one of the best years of my life. I got married this year, I finally asked the universe for this great big thing called being a writer, and I traveled to places I had never been before. I am looking forward to 2018 with a personal expectation to pursue the business side of blogging, learn more about photography, and create various city guides. I also want to start vlogging via YouTube which is an extremely intimidating undertaking but I’m stoked. Basically, I could stop everything I’m doing now (aka my full-time job) and commit myself to nothing but learning new programs and equipment. However, I love being a nurse which means that making progress on the technical side of things might happen at a slower pace around here. I would ask you guys to be patient with me but you’ve already proven your magnificence up to this point. This blog, much like its author, is a work in progress. Let’s all be messy and understanding together, yes?
Now for a recap of my travels in 2017…
Asheville, NC- Blog posts about my bachelorette weekend and hidden gems around Asheville here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. I’m realizing now how much time we spent in Asheville this year. It’s only an hour and a half from Bristol but the drive feels much shorter.
Hot Springs, NC- Post on soaking in Hot Springs here.
Kingsport, TN- I started my love affair with Gypsy Circus Cider here.
Knoxville, TN- Christopher’s birthday party here at Maple Hall.
Mendota, VA- Our kayaking experience at Adventure Mendota here.
Put-in-Bay, OH- This bride got two bachelorette parties and one of them was here.
…and the trips I have planned in 2018 so far!
New York City, NY
Please let me know if you have any recommendations for these cities! I would really appreciate suggestions for what to see, where to eat, etc. Definitely fill me in on something that isn’t worth the time/money. I’m blessed to even be able to go on these adventures so let me know what kinds of things you’d like to see on the blog. Lastly I want to say that I’ve been astonished at how kindly everyone has received You, Me, and Tennessee these last 6 months. I couldn’t be more grateful to you guys for reading my posts. Here’s to us taking 2018 by the horns.
Until next time,
Hey y’all, I hope you like the featured photo for today’s post. The wedding photos are trickling in and I can’t wait to share them with friends, family, and of course the lovely readers of You, Me, and Tennessee. This post is wedding themed so it’s more of a “Bride Day Friday” and “Friday 5 Things” hybrid. Continue reading “FRIDAY 5 THINGS”
