MEET CLAIRE

MEET CLAIRE

In honor of our little love being one month old yesterday, I wanted to share our new favorite photos taken in her nursery by our friend Tara Hodges. I still spend most of my day staring at her and soaking her all in every chance I get. Please pray for her health and our wisdom as parents.

MATERNITY PHOTOS

MATERNITY PHOTOS

It’s been a while since I’ve written a post thanks to quarantine and getting ready for our sweet girl to arrive! I couldn’t miss the opportunity to share our amazing maternity photos shot by Tara Hodges in Roan Mountain State Park. I was nervous about it looking a little dreary outside but I’m slightly obsessed with the end result. After all the waiting it’s hard to believe Claire will be here in 2 weeks or less!

FIRST TRIMESTER Q+A

FIRST TRIMESTER Q+A

I’m well out of my first trimester and I’ve been debating whether or not to post about my experience. In some cases, I’m the last of a group to get pregnant and in others I’m the first. I’m blessed to have friends who have already been through all the beauty and chaos but I wanted to have a record of my own to look back on when I’m feeling nostalgic. So here goes! You asked and I’m telling. Continue reading “FIRST TRIMESTER Q+A”

50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AT STILL HOLLOW FARM

50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AT STILL HOLLOW FARM

We had the pleasure of attending the 50th wedding anniversary party of Jay and his beautiful bride Ann. They’re the owners of Still Hollow Farm in Greeneville where my husband and I were married. The breathtaking farm has been in the family for generations and is part of the National Register or Historic Places. Returning a year and a half after our wedding for such a special occasion was everything we hoped it would be. Continue reading “50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AT STILL HOLLOW FARM”

MEET MY NEPHEW ARLOW

MEET MY NEPHEW ARLOW

I officially became “Aunt Carly” on Wednesday and I couldn’t be happier! I won’t share too many details because it’s my sister’s birth story and not my own. I will say that he’s cuddly and likes to be held. Music to my ears! I hope y’all enjoy these snapshots I took at the hospital. I’m thrilled that my sister allowed me to be there for the birth of her son and to share these moments with you. Continue reading “MEET MY NEPHEW ARLOW”

5 WAYS TO SAVE MONEY FOR TRAVEL

5 WAYS TO SAVE MONEY FOR TRAVEL

Y’all know I love to travel. I started You, Me, and Tennessee because of my passion for travel and it has been incredibly fun to share my adventures (big and small) with all of you. Here’s the thing… the “hitch in my giddy-up” if you will… I work a full time job as a nurse. I don’t have unlimited funds or unlimited vacation days. I saw something on Facebook yesterday that made me laugh out loud. It said, “How are you guys going on trips so often? How is your time off being approved? Who is paying your bills?” I’ve had the same thought a hundred times! Since I started writing on the blog I’ve felt pressure to post about “all the fun I’m having”. I’ve felt like if I’m not posting from the Seven Wonders of the World every week then I’m somehow a fraud as travel blogger and that’s simply not true. So this week I wanted to share with you the 5 things you can do when you can’t travel as much as you’d like. You’re not a failure because your Instagram feed isn’t flashy and color coordinated. Remember that through those avenues people can pick and choose the parts of life they want you to see. Here are 5 things you can do to live your best life when larger trips seem out of the question. TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

Making resolutions is easy to do in the moment. The hard part is sticking with them long term. I think introspection is something to be applauded. I think examining what you want out of life is always a good idea. I also think that if we’re being honest with ourselves, most of us just want to be happy. Dumbledore said, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Two things come to mind when I read this quote. It’s one of my favorites so I reflect on it fairly often. Happiness can be found but you have to know what your version of happiness entails. Maybe being healthier would make you happy or maybe it’s getting more organized. You know yourself best. Secondly, turning on the light is much harder for some than others. I wish you only best with the part about light. I have good days and bad days myself. I can, however, give you some tips to help you hit those resolutions hard and get you one step closer to your happy place.  Continue reading “TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS”
