The Bristol Hotel is Bristol’s first ever boutique hotel and its also home to Lumac, Bristol’s first ever rooftop bar. That’s more excitement than our little town has seen since the Battle at Bristol was hosted at Bristol Motor Speedway back in 2016. After weeks of traveling all over East Tennessee, I finally got the perfect opportunity to sip a glass of rosé on the rooftop while watching the sun set over the mountains. There are a few changes taking place during this season of my life so I thought I’d write a post for those who might be interested. I’m starting my nurse practitioner clinicals for Vanderbilt this week that will run through the end of July. As hard as I tried, I couldn’t secure clinicals near home but I’m grateful to be closer to my family (cough cough- my nephew) in Sevierville, TN. I’ll be sad to be away from my husband and JoeJoe but thankfully we’re no strangers to driving back and forth. We can do this! After I graduate in August I’ll be looking for a job so I ask that you would pray for God’s provision in that area. I’ll also be driving a lot between Nashville, Bristol, and Sevierville so please pray for safe travels. I hope everyone has a wonderful week! I’ll be settling in to my new clinic role and drinking lots of coffee.

Since moving to the Bristol area a few years ago, I’ve compiled a list of the best places to get a bite to eat and I wanted to share them with the You, Me, and Tennessee family.
Bloom is a new coffee shop and cafe in downtown Bristol that has been on my radar since Rhythm and Roots back in September. I popped in to this State Street newbie for a coffee a few weeks back but last night I was able to stay for trivia. The theme was “Stranger Things” and it was a huge success. Many patrons, much like the owner pictured below, dressed as his/her favorite character. The list of team names included “Barb’s Search Party” and “The AV Club”. The dinner special was called “The Upside Down” which consisted of bacon, gouda cheese, turkey, apples, and apple butter sandwiched between two Eggo waffles and served with a side of maple syrup. It was strange, of course, but also delicious. Eleven would definitely approve! I snapped a few pictures so you could have a look around the shop. Not shown are the gorgeous herringbone hardwood floors and the stained glass trim around the door frame. I’ll have to go back when the natural light is beaming through the windows. If you’re looking for more cold-weather activities to enjoy in Tennessee I’ve got you covered. The temperature inside Bristol Caverns is in the 60’s year-round making it the perfect place to explore even in the winter. Continue reading “BRISTOL CAVERNS”
Happy Monday everyone! I’m enjoying my day at home since the clinic is closed in observance of MLK Day. I hope you’re all staying warm and getting your Vitamin C. Our area of Tennessee has been frigidly cold this month but that doesn’t mean your only choice is to stay inside. Not that I have anything against snuggling up under a fuzzy blanket in my favorite sweatpants. That’s what we did all weekend until we decided we should take showers and rejoin humanity. We ended up at The Birthplace of Country Music Museum in downtown Bristol and learned a lot about this city’s heritage. Continue reading “BIRTHPLACE OF COUNTRY MUSIC MUSEUM”
I will jump at any excuse to go see a movie and the drive-in might just be the best way to go! Here are 5 reasons why going to see a drive-in movie should be on your fall bucket list. Continue reading “5 REASONS TO SEE A MOVIE AT THE DRIVE-IN THEATER”
Bristol’s Rhythm and Roots Reunion is a music and arts festival held on State Street in Bristol. The fun fact about State Street is that one side of the street is Virginia and the other side is Tennessee so you can straddle the double yellow lines and be in two places at once. We enjoy Rhythm and Roots for the food trucks, live bands, and art that you may not find anywhere else. Continue reading “RHYTHM AND ROOTS REUNION”
