Y’all know I love to travel. I started You, Me, and Tennessee because of my passion for travel and it has been incredibly fun to share my adventures (big and small) with all of you. Here’s the thing… the “hitch in my giddy-up” if you will… I work a full time job as a nurse. I don’t have unlimited funds or unlimited vacation days. I saw something on Facebook yesterday that made me laugh out loud. It said, “How are you guys going on trips so often? How is your time off being approved? Who is paying your bills?” I’ve had the same thought a hundred times! Since I started writing on the blog I’ve felt pressure to post about “all the fun I’m having”. I’ve felt like if I’m not posting from the Seven Wonders of the World every week then I’m somehow a fraud as travel blogger and that’s simply not true. So this week I wanted to share with you the 5 things you can do when you can’t travel as much as you’d like. You’re not a failure because your Instagram feed isn’t flashy and color coordinated. Remember that through those avenues people can pick and choose the parts of life they want you to see. Here are 5 things you can do to live your best life when larger trips seem out of the question. Today I was inspired to share a little something different on the blog so please humor me. The featured photo is from the movie “Legally Blonde” after Elle gets dumped by her boyfriend Warner. Typing this all I could think about was Elle saying, “So you’re breaking up with me because you’re afraid your family won’t like me? Everybody likes me.” I’ve admitted on here before that I get anxiety quite often and one of the worst times is when someone doesn’t like me. One piece of advice I continually get is “to Hell with those people” but I don’t think that mindset is always healthy. Doing the hard work of introspection can lead to not only personal growth but stronger relationships. These are the 5 questions I ask myself when that happens because- full disclosure- it really hurts. I hope this helps other people who could be struggling with the same thing. Continue reading “FRIDAY 5 THINGS: WHEN SOMEONE DOESN’T LIKE YOU”
Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I last posted and I want to apologize for being MIA this week. I’ve been fighting a migraine and low estrogen levels so looking at a screen without the help of Zofran has been difficult to say the least. I took the opportunity to focus on my health and to brainstorm new ideas for posts. Man, it feels good to be back! Continue reading “FRIDAY 5 THINGS”
Hey everyone! It’s been another crazy week at the clinic. I’m happy to have survived with only one bubble bath filled with orange oil and self-pity. On a positive note, Chris and I celebrated our 6th dating anniversary this week. We can hardly believe it’s been 6 years since we went on that blind date at Cafe 4. Continue reading “FRIDAY 5 THINGS”
Happy Friday and Happy Birthday to the incomparable Dolly Parton! The Patron Saint of the Smokies makes my heart sing today and every day. I hope you all have stayed warm this week. Heck, I hope everyone has held on to his/her sanity this week if the kids have been out of school for snow. If you’re a teacher then I’m happy you (hopefully) got a well-deserved extra break. I’m praying that you’re all feeling well. The flu has hit our part of Tennessee so stay safe and if you’re leaving the house bring disinfecting wipes with you. I added a photo of me at Blackbird Bakery in Bristol because I went on Monday and stocked up. I’ve been thinking about them all week when I eat one of the dozen things I brought home. I’m also wearing the softest article of clothing I own and it’s perfect for a UT game so I’ll link it below. Ok, here we go!
Hey guys! This week was busier than usual at the clinic and I am feeling it for sure. I took a loooooong bath Tuesday night with a glass of wine and I honestly could have done that every night and still might feel this tired. Flu season is upon us! Stay hydrated and full of vitamin C. Here are the 5 things on my mind this Friday. Links are embedded in the titles unless otherwise specified. As always thanks for reading and letting me share with you. Today’s featured photo was taken at Niagara Falls in December of 2012. Niagara Falls was recently in the news because the area around the falls was covered in snow and a thick coat of ice. Have a look here. When we visited 6 years ago there was plenty of thick ice but thankfully not that amount of snow. There was a sign on the gate that said the lookout was closed to visitors but we jumped the fence. Taking the risk was completely worth it and Niagara Falls is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Chris and I are blessed to have been on countless adventures and I can’t wait for more. The temperatures in Tennessee have been dropping down into the single digits lately and I’m reminded of our trip to Niagara Falls. I’ve been chilled to the bone and my eyes have been watering but I’m blissfully happy to spend time with Chris no matter how cold it is outside. My husband at least got me a warmer coat a few years ago. Damn Yankees and their cold weather preparedness. I say if it’s not Christmas anymore then it should be spring but no one asked me.
This edition of Friday 5 Things is as random as ever but I’m back to posting links with numbers 2 through 5. Let’s start with the giveaway winner! Continue reading “FRIDAY 5 THINGS + GIVEAWAY WINNER”
This week ends up providing the perfect opportunity to pause and reflect on the year. What did you accomplish? What do you want to do the same or differently next year? What are your goals for 2018?
Hey y’all, I hope you like the featured photo for today’s post. The wedding photos are trickling in and I can’t wait to share them with friends, family, and of course the lovely readers of You, Me, and Tennessee. This post is wedding themed so it’s more of a “Bride Day Friday” and “Friday 5 Things” hybrid. Continue reading “FRIDAY 5 THINGS”
This edition of Friday 5 things is just as random as the others but I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them. Before I jump down the rabbit hole, I would like to remind you of this week’s posts if you missed any. Continue reading “FRIDAY 5 THINGS”
