5 THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU CAN’T TRAVEL

5 THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU CAN’T TRAVEL

Y’all know I love to travel. I started You, Me, and Tennessee because of my passion for travel and it has been incredibly fun to share my adventures (big and small) with all of you. Here’s the thing… the “hitch in my giddy-up” if you will… I work a full time job as a nurse. I don’t have unlimited funds or unlimited vacation days. I saw something on Facebook yesterday that made me laugh out loud. It said, “How are you guys going on trips so often? How is your time off being approved? Who is paying your bills?” I’ve had the same thought a hundred times! Since I started writing on the blog I’ve felt pressure to post about “all the fun I’m having”. I’ve felt like if I’m not posting from the Seven Wonders of the World every week then I’m somehow a fraud as travel blogger and that’s simply not true. So this week I wanted to share with you the 5 things you can do when you can’t travel as much as you’d like. You’re not a failure because your Instagram feed isn’t flashy and color coordinated. Remember that through those avenues people can pick and choose the parts of life they want you to see. Here are 5 things you can do to live your best life when larger trips seem out of the question. FRIDAY 5 THINGS: WHEN SOMEONE DOESN’T LIKE YOU

FRIDAY 5 THINGS: WHEN SOMEONE DOESN’T LIKE YOU

Today I was inspired to share a little something different on the blog so please humor me. The featured photo is from the movie “Legally Blonde” after Elle gets dumped by her boyfriend Warner. Typing this all I could think about was Elle saying, “So you’re breaking up with me because you’re afraid your family won’t like me? Everybody likes me.” I’ve admitted on here before that I get anxiety quite often and one of the worst times is when someone doesn’t like me. One piece of advice I continually get is “to Hell with those people” but I don’t think that mindset is always healthy. Doing the hard work of introspection can lead to not only personal growth but stronger relationships. These are the 5 questions I ask myself when that happens because- full disclosure- it really hurts. I hope this helps other people who could be struggling with the same thing.  Continue reading “FRIDAY 5 THINGS: WHEN SOMEONE DOESN’T LIKE YOU”

TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

Making resolutions is easy to do in the moment. The hard part is sticking with them long term. I think introspection is something to be applauded. I think examining what you want out of life is always a good idea. I also think that if we’re being honest with ourselves, most of us just want to be happy. Dumbledore said, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Two things come to mind when I read this quote. It’s one of my favorites so I reflect on it fairly often. Happiness can be found but you have to know what your version of happiness entails. Maybe being healthier would make you happy or maybe it’s getting more organized. You know yourself best. Secondly, turning on the light is much harder for some than others. I wish you only best with the part about light. I have good days and bad days myself. I can, however, give you some tips to help you hit those resolutions hard and get you one step closer to your happy place.  Continue reading “TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS”

FRIDAY FOOD FOR THOUGHT

FRIDAY FOOD FOR THOUGHT

I’m trying something new this week and I hope to continue with these kinds of weekly updates. “Friday Food for Thought” will be a series in which I share advice, life happenings, interesting links, and ask for travel recommendations based on what our weekend holds. I might even share actual food! This first post on Food for Thought” could be filed under advice. Wedding chaos is in full swing as we make our way to October so here are some of my thoughts on time management. Continue reading “FRIDAY FOOD FOR THOUGHT”
