I recently saw an article that talked about how vacations with your girlfriends are good for your health. Makes perfect sense, right? But with careers, kiddos, and bills to pay the idea of an extended vacation doesn’t seem feasible for everyone. No need to worry— Girls’ Night Out is the next best thing and I’ve got 8 ideas for you to put to the test with the adventurous women in your life.
//one// Share Tapas and Table Side Guacamole at Babalu
The tapas aka “shared plates” and tacos at Babalu pair perfectly with table side guacamole and spicy margaritas. This is a great place to order multiple menu items to share with your girlfriends while you spend time together.
//two// Go Bowling at Maple Hall
You don’t have to be a particularly skilled athlete to enjoy yourself while bowling. I don’t know what this says about my hand-eye coordination but my aim actually improves with every drink. Depending on the day of the week, the lanes at Maple Hall rent for $25-$30 an hour and bowling shoes are $3.50. If you go on Sunday night after 9 pm the lanes are only $10 an hour!
//three// See What’s Happening at Zoo Knoxville
Here’s a list of events being held at Zoo Knoxville for anyone interested. We went to a wine tasting called Wild Vine earlier this month and had a blast with all the animals after hours.
//four// Enjoy a Sweet Treat at Cruze Farm Ice Cream
The ice cream is made with fresh, local milk from Cruze Farm and they even have dairy free options for the lactose handicapped such as myself. Always save room for dessert when you’re in Knoxville because you never know what’s waiting for you around the corner.
//five// Play Laser Tag at Main Event
Main Event has a massive game room as well as laser tag, bowling, a ropes course, and billiards. There isn’t any room for stuffy old grown-ups so come ready to play! You can see more photos from Main Event here.
//six// Get Creative at McKay’s Used Bookstore
Go through the old DVD’s at McKay’s, find your favorite “chick flicks”, and watch them together surrounded by junk food and wine. It’s simple, inexpensive, and a great excuse to stay in your sweatpants. Sign me up!
//seven// Catch a Show at The Bijou or The Tennessee Theatre
Musicals, comedy acts, concerts, and more set the stage for a memorable time out with the girls. You can have dinner and drinks on Gay Street or in Market Square before the show and walk right over. If you’re too tired to drive home then make your way to The Oliver Hotel and call it an epic night.
//eight// Cheers to Your Friendship at Sapphire
With names like “Tango With An Alligator” and “Death In The Afternoon” Sapphire’s legendary cocktails are a must-try when you’re in Knoxville. Their extensive menu is carefully crafted by master mixologists and is sure to please everyone in your group.
Enjoy your girls weekend in Knoxville!
