HATTIE B’S HOT CHICKEN & BOBBIE’S DAIRY DIP

I’m not normally one to enjoy spicy foods but you can’t visit Nashville and not have hot chicken. I wanted to go to Hattie B’s because Prince’s is rumored to be even hotter and Pepperfire is as well! So I went on a Nashville native’s recommendation to start with Hattie B’s and branch out from there. Well… after one bite my mouth was on fire but man was it good!

I was glad that I had pickles to eat and redskin potato salad because I was shoveling them in my face to cut the heat. I am such a whimp! I know! Thankfully, they give you ranch for dipping so that helped me out tremendously. I will say the flavors really complimented each other well. I enjoyed everything on my plate. I even loved Hattie B’s house made lemonade. The only downside is that my stomach is a little weak and I ended up taking antacids later but I can honestly say I would eat hot chicken again. Next time I’ll have to try a different place and compare the two!

Hattie B’s had an outdoor seating area and corn hole boards but we had already been fried like hot chickens earlier that day and opted for a table indoors. Our friend Laura suggested we go next door after we eat to see if Bobbie’s Dairy Dip was open. She has a Nashville Bucket List and Bobbie’s was at the top! Apparently, Bobbie’s Dairy Dip has unconventional hours and she hasn’t had any luck catching them when they’re open. We were happy to help her mark something off her list! I admire Laura because she has a way of fearlessly immersing herself in a city no matter where she lives. If something interesting and fun is going on in her city, she knows about it. She’s been our tour guide before when she lived in Chattanooga and now in Nashville. I can’t wait for her to visit us again and return the favor showing her around Bristol.

Since I’m hopelessly lactose intolerant I didn’t get to try Bobbie’s soft serve. I did, however, ask the lactose lovers if they had any thoughts. Chris and Laura both said to opt for the smaller size when you go. The soft serve is very rich so you don’t need a huge serving. They both said it was amazing but they didn’t need as much as they ordered. Bobbie’s Dairy Dip had a food menu as well as frozen treats so the next time Chris and Laura take me I will save my appetite for dinner while they enjoy dessert. We truly had a top-notch Nashville dinner and dessert experience with Hattie B’s and Bobbie’s. This is only the beginning of Nashville posts so be on the lookout for more this week! We had a wonderful weekend and I can’t wait to show you the rest.

Until next time,

Carly
