Hello 2019! I can’t believe I’m writing my first post of the new year. The holidays seemed to jet passed me in a blur. I think this year I’ll put up my Christmas decorations BEFORE Thanksgiving like a heathen and everyone else can just deal. Christmas for me means time spent in Ohio and this year a tour of “A Christmas Story” house was on the top of the list.
Here’s everything you need to know before visiting.
Location:

“A Christmas Story” house is unassumingly perched in the middle of a Cleveland neighborhood. I posed for the picture while channeling the infamous tag line, “You’ll shoot your eye out, kid!”
Parking:
Believe it or not, “A Christmas Story” house has two FREE parking lots and there is FREE parking on the street as well near the house.
Tickets:
Tickets can be purchased online or in person but online tickets are shipped so if you don’t have extra time to wait on the mail then buy in person at the gift shop. There isn’t any price difference. General admission is $15 but less for children and seniors. Children under 3 are free. They also give a 20% military discount. The ticket price includes a tour of the house and the museum.
Tours of the house can be guided or self-guided. Our tour was self-guided but I would suggest a guided tour because then the flow of people will be orchestrated making the house and accompanying museum less crowded.
How many fans of “A Christmas Story” do we have out there? If you’re in Cleveland for the holidays this is a fantastic and family-friendly way to get in the holiday spirit. The best part about the tour was that you could touch or pick up anything in the house which I thought was incredibly brave of the owners. Usually the rule is “don’t touch anything” so that was a surprise for sure.
