On our first morning in Rome we woke up extra early to get to the Trevi Fountain before sunrise. I picked out a dress just for the occasion. I wanted to look perfect. I thought about what I would wish for and hoped to get a picture of the two of us that would last a lifetime. Our cab driver dropped us off as close as he could get to the fountain and gave us walking directions. When Chris told me it was right around the corner I took off in a sprint.
There were less than a dozen people there and most were couples like us. We even saw a few brides! Chris took some pictures for me with the big camera and even though I rented a lens especially for Italy, I picked one that couldn’t fit the whole fountain in the shot. Here are the photos he took for me and I couldn’t love them more.
As more people arrived we headed up the stairs to get a different vantage point. Chris took the next picture as a policeman blew a whistle and yelled at me in Italian. I’m sure it was something along the lines of “get off the ledge”!
A girl offered to take a photo for us with my phone and basically did a mini photo shoot. She was down on the ground, making sure to get the fountain in the shot, letting us move around… it was incredible. Of course I offered to take pictures of her and her husband as well. I definitely felt motivated to get as many good shots for her after she was so kind. We didn’t get exactly the photo that I was daydreaming about but I have to say I’m so in love with how it turned out. We made our wishes and kissed as the sun came up over Rome.
