Time for the second installment of “Friday Food for Thought” and it’s all about weddings! Two of my best friends (my Maid of Honor and one of my bridesmaids) were engaged at the same time as me. Crazy! I never would have guessed we would all end up engaged and planning weddings at the same time but I’m so glad we did. Continue reading “BRIDE DAY FRIDAY”
Today’s blog post might be my most unique one to date. Before I tell you all about Red Bull Flugtag, I thought I’d do you one better and show you. *Spoiler alert* This DeLorean is going to Marty McFly straight into the Cumberland.
We started off the morning having brunch at The Pfunky Griddle in Murfreesboro where my sorority sister Kristen and her precious baby girl Olivia live. Get this… you pay to cook your own breakfast. What?! I’m one of the worst cooks and breakfast food is easy to burn. Thankfully, my fiance Julia Child was there to help me out or I would have gone hungry. He cooked me scrambled eggs, hash browns, and blueberry pancakes. Continue reading “12 SOUTH & DRAPER JAMES”
I’m not normally one to enjoy spicy foods but you can’t visit Nashville and not have hot chicken. I wanted to go to Hattie B’s because Prince’s is rumored to be even hotter and Pepperfire is as well! So I went on a Nashville native’s recommendation to start with Hattie B’s and branch out from there. Well… after one bite my mouth was on fire but man was it good! Continue reading “HATTIE B’S HOT CHICKEN & BOBBIE’S DAIRY DIP”
Bristol’s Rhythm and Roots Reunion is a music and arts festival held on State Street in Bristol. The fun fact about State Street is that one side of the street is Virginia and the other side is Tennessee so you can straddle the double yellow lines and be in two places at once. We enjoy Rhythm and Roots for the food trucks, live bands, and art that you may not find anywhere else. Continue reading “RHYTHM AND ROOTS REUNION”
Rhythm and Roots was a different experience for me this year because I got to see it from a vendor’s point of view. My sister, Katie, is an artist from Pigeon Forge (Coincidence??? I think NOT!!!) who specializes in throwing and carving. For those of you who don’t know, you quite literally throw a piece of clay onto a potter’s wheel. I would love to record her throwing one day just so everyone could see the magic happen. Continue reading “BEAR MOUNTAIN POTTERY”
When Chris finally told me that my surprise was a day at the spa I almost fell through the floor. I’m marrying the most thoughtful man! As my Mimi used to say, “If I was any better, I couldn’t stand it and you couldn’t either.” He told me we would soak in a hot tub for an hour and then get a romantic couples massage. Heaven! Continue reading “SHOJI SPA & LODGE”
After I got my surprise (you’ll find out tomorrow!) I was ready to eat. We were close to The Grove Park Inn and Chris had never seen it so we decided to go have a look around. On the way, we passed Taco Temple and I knew we’d end up eating a late lunch there because it is a rare occurrence that Chris passes up tacos. Turns out this unassuming little restaurant serves up some seriously authentic cuisine. The best part? I had the most flavorful shrimp taco of my short life. Continue reading “TACO TEMPLE”
The most wonderful fiancé in the world took me to Asheville this weekend for a surprise! You’ll have to wait to see what it was on Wednesday! I can’t wait to show you! While we were there, I wanted to take Chris to Sierra Nevada Brewery because I had heard from coworkers and friends that it’s a beautiful place inside and out.
For my bachelorette party we headed out to Put-in-Bay on Lake Erie. Exactly 5 years ago on Labor Day weekend I was introduced to Put-in-Bay for the first time by Christopher’s family. This place has themed bars, great restaurants, and it’s safe to walk everywhere… Perfect for a bachelor/bachelorette party or to celebrate your 21st birthday!
